I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.

Good Cause:

For 20 years, Forget Me Not Farm, a division of the Sonoma County, CA Humane Society, has provided animal-assisted and horticultural therapeutic interventions to maltreated children. Under a grant awarded by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, Forget Me Not Farm Children’s Services developed a program in which youth in foster care work with mentors to socialize and train animals at the Sonoma County Humane Society. The program provides foster youth who are aging out of care with opportunities to develop occupational and social skills necessary for a successful transition to adulthood.

Great Results:

We are currently conducting a qualitative study of the program, including analyzing transcripts of interviews with 40 mentors and mentees. The results will be used to improve, expand, and replicate the program.
