Friendly PEERsuasion is a Girls, Inc. prevention program designed to help girls ages 11 to 14 acquire knowledge, skills, and support systems to avoid substance use. It is one of OJJDP’s model programs and one of the two most popular programs among Girls Inc.’s 93 affiliates.
Dr. Lunghofer wrote a successful proposal to OJJDP and was awarded a grant of $380,000 to test the effectiveness of Friendly PEERsuasion. The evaluation represents a critical opportunity to use an experimental design to examine immediate outcomes and test the hypothesis that program effects are sustained for one year after program completion. Dr. Lunghofer is the Principal Investigator for the study.
